SHOPPING BAGS MADE OUT OF POTATO STARCH
Next to our PLA Sleeves, we also offer SHOPPING BAGS and BABYDIAPERBAGS (and films) out of Bio-Compostable Potato Starch based films.
The use of plastic shopping bags is under pressure in Europe. Italy, with a consumption of 20 billion shopping bags per annum (330 pcs per persion….), already put a complete ban on the use of plastic shopping bags as from January 2011. Bio-compostable, cloth or paper bags, are being used instead.
The average use of plastics shopping bags in Europe is 500 pcs per person (per annum). Most of these bags are not being re-used. The EU environmental committee, has brought up the possibility of imposing a Europe-wide ban on plastic carrier bags.
Meanwhile also China will restrict the use of shopping bags in an effort to stop the "white pollution". The ever increasing floating plastic dump in our oceans (upto 5 tons per km2!), speaks for itself.
Our BIO-COMPOSTABLE Shopping bags are a genuine sustainable alternative to plastic bags. Our bags carry the SEEDLING LOGO and are printed with bio-friendly sustainable inks.
BIO-COMPOSTABLE Shopping bags, can be re-used and also serve as a bio-compostable waste bag, to dispose organic kitchen and/or garden waste, together with the bag itself.
